Hello everyone.
I am getting anxious to start fund raising....
The following website is a great idea. Please take a look at it.
http://recyclingforcharities.com/
Make sure you read http://www.recyclingforcharities.com/Organization-Fundraising-Programs.php
I propose, we do this for 3 months. Keep a tally on this blog to motivate each other. Target- a mininum of $1000 collectively.
What do you all say? Who is in?

The one flaw with this program is that the shipping charges are not paid for so we would have to pay for the charges. But I do think it is a great idea because I have 4 phones to recycle!
That is true. There is discounted shipping...may be we can have someone (business) donate for shipping? We can work it out.
I like it!! I have to read a little more info from the website, but on first glance it looks very do-able and I have already asked a few co-workers who have phones and cameras they want to get rid of. I think doing this around or right after the holidays is a good time because many people get some of these electronics for gifts and then get rid of their old ones. We might have a larger intake during the months of December and January.
Gioia,
exactly what i was thinking. What i like about this is that the cell phones get a $1 regardless.
I have started asking people too.

One of my co-workers brought me 5 phones today!!!!!! I haven't even made a formal request yet, I just mentioned it in passing to a few people at work and already the phones are rolling in.
Can we get a vote on the "Recycling for Charities" fundraiser. I work for a pretty big school district and would like to get boxes put together to put in each of the high school's main offices if they will let me. but, I do not want to move forward until a decision has been made as a group.
I am in. Got 3 PDA's and 2 phones :)

can we take big items?? like computer/ laptop??
Nina, cell phone program may not recycle computers, but there are a lot of recyclers in IL. We could work out a deal.
